Some radiation curable resins and monomers can be readily absorbed by conventional PBMA latex particles. The T_g of these particles sharply drops, depending on type and concentration of UV-curable material and film formation readily proceeds at room temperature. UV-irradiation affords films with significantly improved mechanical properties. The film formation was followed by transparency measurements. The possibilities of this approach for the preparation of sunlight-curable latex paints will be discussed.
