摘要

Synthesis of nanoparticles of metals, metal oxides, composites and cermets was demonstrated using atmospheric pressure spray flame. A custom made atomizer, the Nanomiser~(TM) device, was used to produce small-sized aerosols of precursor solutions that are efficiently combusted for nanopowder formation. The process involves controlled thermal decomposition of one or more precursors in an atmospheric-pressure flame to yield nanopowders of uniform crystallinity and composition, with sizes ranging from 2-100 nm. The synthesized nanoparticles are then either collected as nanopowder in a dry form or in a colloidal suspension, In this study the atmospheric pressure flame aerosol reactor was used to prepare ceria, barium strontium titanate and platinum nanoparticles < 50 nm. Preliminary characterization in terms of particle size, crystallinity, morphology and composition was accomplished by X-ray diffraction analysis, surface analysis and transmission electron microscopy.
