摘要

Concern about the consequence of carbon dioxide ocean sequestration includes the ecological modification of the ocean system. However, if we accept the target of a stabilization level of the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide (CO_2) stated in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), this means that our generation's commitment to the future Earth surface condition inevitably extends to the mid-depth environmental change induced by the increased CO_2 concentration in the atmosphere. We can only control the route of CO_2 invasion into this domain of the ocean; the dilution-type ocean sequestration by way of CO_2 release from "moving-ship" offers the minimum impact injection scheme, and we are now set the target of technology development in this course. Its implication to the estimated potential of the ocean's carbon dioxide sequestration capacity is discussed by use of our atmosphere-ocean-land carbon cycling box model.
