It is not uncommon that manual transaxle design engineers and bearing application engineers are sometimes forced to create an innovative, unique bearing design to satisfy to a multitude of application specific requirements such as limited pack- aging space, assembly, normal loading, shock loading, and in this particular case; the bearing inner ring must also serve as a static force thrust support in normal and shock loading situations. The bearing must also function flawlessly in a high volume automotive application for 100,000 customer equivalent miles or higher under any and all types of driving conditions.
