This article discusses the specifics of high voltage power line carrier channels construction with application of new wideband power line carrier equipment with packet switching. It presents distinctive features of W-DPLC systems in comparison with classic high voltage PLC, discusses issues about planning of wideband channels and results of field trials on complex 110 kV line with high frequency bridges and tapping line. Tests showed that W-DPLC systems can provide megabit bit rates, coexist with other PLC channels in conditions of high load of frequency spectrum and work with overlapping attenuation more than 60 dB, what guarantees reliable operation of such channels even in bad weather conditions and ice-crust.
