PRACTICAL ASPECTS OF DANDY ROLLS

Dandy rolls have been used for many years on the fourdrinier of papermaking machines to improve formation and smoothness or to form a watermark in the sheet.rnOver the years, significant improvements have been made to the design and application of dandy rolls to enhance their performance. Also impacting this performance are the developments made in drainage technology, vacuum control and paper machine monitoring devices.rnThe intent of this paper is to focus on the application and operation of dandy rolls in combination with the forming table drainage equipment. A practical rather than theoretical approach will be emphasized in order to assist papermakers in achieving their production and quality goals.
