Performance data of an ISAAC solar thermal icemaker in Annapolis,Maryland is presented and compared to a computer model.On a sunny. 85 deg F (29.4 deg C) day with nighttime low of 60 deg F (15.5 deg C) the unit produced 138 lb (62.7kg) of ice.A simple model of the intermittent ammonia absorption cycle is described and used to evaluate the system's performance.Only the basic thermodynamic processes are modeled including water vapor carryover to the night mode.The inputs to the model are the generator temperature and pressure at the end of the day mode.The model calculates the amount of ammonia generated and the subsequent amount of ice to the model is commented on.The proper ammonia concentration of the system working fluid is discussed.The proper charge depends on the ambient nighttime low temperature.The ammonia concentration used for the data presented here is 46.4
