A new measurement technology has been developed for visual borescopic inspection of industrial power generating equipment. The Digital Measuring Borescope System (DMBS) quantifies damage and defects in turbines, generators, combustors, and compressors. The system consists of an eight millimeter diameter borescope with a dedicated CCD camera, a fiberoptic light source, and digital video analyzer. The borescope's high powered optical system is coupled to a swing prism objective lens. This enables the user to view critical inspection areas from a 40 degree oblique to a 115 degree retrospective angular position.
