Expanding Technology Adds Value to Visual Testing and Remote Visual Inspection Procedures

摘要

The revolution in visual testing (VT) and remote visual inspection technologies shows no sign of ending. VT is used to inspect the surfaces of external components for defects, while remote visual inspection uses imaging techniques to view the surfaces of internal components. The increased use of borescopes, fiber optic borescopes, videoimagescopes, and related visual inspection instruments is being driven by inexorable advances in charge coupled device (CCD) imaging capabilities. Digital image management and digital measuring have created even more excitement in the field of remote visual inspection. Adding to this phenomenon is the growing awareness of the economic value offered by these more powerful and cost effective imaging techniques.
