High Speed Rail Project for New York City

A properly engineered high speed rail freight system can reduce truck traffic on the streets of NewrnYork City by carrying traffic, passing into and through the city, on a private railroad right of way.rnThe proposed system would bring truckload consumer goods traffic from the western and southernrnportions of the North American continent into areas of metropolitan New York City which havernheretofore suffered due to difficult highway access. The proposed system would provide rapid directrnaccess and would be capable of being improved incrementally. The proposed system would alsornhave the advantage of being able to provide improved access for intercity rail passenger servicernwhich would be compatible with the freight service on which the proposal is based.
