For more efficient management and supervision of the ITS(Intelligent TransportrnSystems) for National Highway in Metropolitan area, we have applied RFID (RadiornFrequency Identification) in ubiquitous environments to road traffic ITS for the firstrntime. RFID is widely used for the operation and maintenance of logistics, security,rntransportation cards and electronic libraries. As a demonstration model, the facilityrnmanagement system was tested on 394 pieces of local equipment out of a total of 655rnincluding unmanned area centers. With the National highway ITS facility managementrnsystem established, it is now possible to save manpower and time needed forrnmaintenance, and management and supervision has become easier because maintenancerntechnicians can no longer manipulate arrival times or the content of inspections.
