It has been shown that mechanical activation is very promising method of processing zirconium ores with high silica content. Two different ores, zircon that is resistant to decomposition and the easily decomposed alternative industrial mineral eudialyte have been studied and novel alternative techniques to those currently in use without the problems normally connected with silicic acid have been developed.
