Surface engineering, corrosion investigation, electrochemical power generation, catalysis, electrochemical basic research - these are some of the fields in which the impedance - spectrometry has caused a stir again and again in the last few years. For the surface process characterization, electrode impedance is able to supply very useful dates for knowledge of some process (e.g. corrosion) and in the modeling of electrode - electrolyte system involved. By analyzing the measured impedance - spectra, individual impedance - elements can be defined. Proceeding for these elements it is often possible to conclude directly to properties as thickness of the layer, homogeneity, concentration, reaction - rate etc.
