To simplify the machine structure and increase the throughput, vast majority of wave soldering machine today is carrying out semi-nitrogen inert soldering system, such as nitrogen blanket on wave or nitrogen tunnel with curtain. But to keep the lower oxygen level in the semi-inert system, the higher nitrogen purity and consumption are needed. The cost down is an important topic to assembly service companies now, the high nitrogen purity and consumption are synonyms of high cost. So, to balance the cost and quality, engineers should find an acceptable oxygen ppm level (means decrease the nitrogen consumption) yet not influencing soldering quality.
