摘要

A novel mercury free flat plasma [1] backlight unit has been developed for LCD-TVs, which can be worked as scanning mode for improving the LCD's motion performance. Based on the measurement of temporal light character, the performance of moving image with this backlight is simulated. The calculation results indicate that the BET [2] (blurred edge time) can be reduced 35% by comparison with traditional CCFL backlight. The motion image quality of LCD is improved significantly by means of this plasma scanning backlight unit.
