摘要

Exothermic reactions in stirred reactors with wall or coil cooling can exhibit thermal runaway when agitation fails. Injection of reaction inhibitors can prevent these hazardous situations. It is shown that injection systems can be designed to assure sufficient mixing well before time to maximum rate of the runaway with an injected volume of only 0.5% of the reactor contents. The design strongly depends on reactor and stirrer configuration.
