Treatment of dye wastewater containing basic violet 5BN by foam fractionation

In order to study the treatment of dye wastewater by foam fractionation, basic violet 5BN was used as a model system, and Sodium Dodecyl Benzene Sulphonate (SDBS) was selected as the collector in this paper. In the optimal condition, the enrichment rate was 61.81, and the decolorization rate (R) was 92.53%. The decolorization rate, the flow rate and concentration of foamate, and the decolorization proportion in different time of decolorization process were investigated. In order to deal with the foamate, a new collection method which could recycle the foamate and reduce the secondary pollutant of foam fractionation was introduced. The whole process was separated into 2 parts, and the foamate in the first part was charged into the initial wastewater instead of some surfactant, which could decrease the cost of the treatment. By the new collection method, he decolorization rate(R) could be increased into 85.63, and the wastewater discharge from the foam fractionation was decreased largely. Due to the effective treatment of the model material, we thought the foam fraction was an efficient method to deal with the dye wastewater.
