It is well known that of a series of 2(1H)-quinolinone derivatives having potent positiveinotropic activities for congestive heart failure treatmentl .However, there are only few reportson the synthesis of 6-(3-amino-2-hydroxypropoxy)-2(LH)-quinolinone derivatives. Herein wewish to report a new and convenient synthesis of 2(1H)-quinolinone derivatives through a three-step procedure (scheme 1).6-hydroxy-2(1H)-quinolinone 1 was prepared by the method of T. C. Wang2，Alkylationof compound 1 with epichloroh州rin in the presence of triethylamine in MeOH and H20 gave 6-(3-chloro-2-hydroxypropoxy) 2-(1H)-quinolinone 2 in 70% yield.
