Several design guides and models for the determination of shear contribution of FRP composites in externally bonded shear-strengthened reinforced concrete (RC) beams have been published [1-6] in recent years. These design guides and models mostly use an empirical or semi-empirical approach,in which the strains in the FRP materials for shear strengthening are evaluated to determine the FRP contribution to the overall shear resistance. These well known equations for externally bonded FRP contribution to the shear resistance of RC beams by various models are reviewed and compared in this paper, and conclusions are drawn as to which model produces the most realistic results.
