Facilitating transport is a basic foundation for sustainable continuos growth. China is currently investing 292 Billion US$ in the national railway system which is a very intelligent move. With this investment，China has undertaken an important step in order to facilitate successful，sustainable，economic development.Transport and mobility are one of the most urgent topics if it comes to sustainable urban development. Cities all over the world are being faced with the same problems: high development pressure and a single-focussed strategy on individual transport leads not only to over-motorization，congestion and pollution but also to less-attractive living places. Natural resources are becoming scarce; climate-change issues become more and more important. Experience shows，that the transport-sector has to be diversified in order to provide a sustainable modern transport system.In the next paragraphs，I want to discuss，the relations of a diversified sustainable transport system，and the challenges of urban transition to modern，flexible，green and climate-friendly urban environment. I want to point out,how development pressure and new solutions could lead to a Paradigm Shift in Cities in Transition.
