The companion robot moving in front of the patient and the binding strap bound to the companion robot as gripped by the patient and the companion robot moving while maintaining a predetermined distance with respect to the patient, or the companion robot moving through the binding strap and a control unit for controlling the companion robot to apply a pulling force to the patient. According to the present invention, the gait training system and control method using a companion robot provides a more realistic gait rehabilitation training that can stimulate voluntary and multiple senses to a stroke patient, thereby providing the same gait pattern as that of a normal person.
