The present invention provides a method of treating a patient with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) comprising administering a cell composition comprising recombinant allogeneic cells, such as CD4+ T-cells. The present invention further relates to methods and compositions for making allogeneic T-cell-based prophylactic HIV vaccines that induce both cellular and humoral immunity.
