VIEWPORT DEPENDENT VIDEO STREAMING EVENTS

The systems and methods disclosed herein provide for rendering of 360 degree video and monitoring the quality of the rendering. The video has multiple representations with different quality levels in different regions. In an example method, a client device tracks a position of a viewport with respect to the 360 degree video and renders the selected set of representations to the viewport. The client adaptively adds and removes representations from the selected set based on the viewport position. The client also measures and reports the viewport switching latency. In some embodiments, the viewport transition latency is a comparable-quality viewport transition latency representing the time taken after a viewport transition to return to a quality comparable to the pre-switching viewport quality.
