The present invention relates to tyrosinase inhibitors, pharmaceutical compositions comprising such tyrosinase inhibitors, and methods of making and using the same. In particular, the present invention includes a composition of matter consisting of at least one 2,4-dihydroxybenzene analogue which inhibits the activity of tyrosinase and inhibits the overproduction of melanin.
