A catalyst composed of an active palladium phase and a porous zinc oxide support, which does not include palladium and a zinc based alloy, wherein the content of palladium in the catalyst is between 0.0025-1% of the total weight of the catalyst, and the specific surface area of the catalyst is between 10 m2 / g and 300 m2 / G.
