A liquid reservoir(10) for a humidifier containing a base(12), a top portion(14) opposite the base(12), a side wall(20), and a liquid presence indicator(26). The side wall(20) contains a lower side wall portion(18) adjacent to the base, and an upper side wall portion(20) adjacent to the top portion. The liquid presence indicator(26) interacts with the humidifier to detect the presence of liquid in the liquid reservoir(10). A humidifier, and/or a medical device may contain the liquid reservoir, and a method may employ the humidifier and/or medical device.
