PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve higher adsorption and catalytic activity for removing formaldehyde and other vapors / gases from an air stream. SOLUTION: The method for producing a material for reacting with a volatile organic compound in a gas stream is (a) water with at least one manganese precursor compound together with a reducing agent in order to form metal oxide nanoparticles.
