The present invention relates to a method for producing activated carbon for storage of hydrogen, and more particularly, to a method for producing activated carbon for storage of hydrogen having a high specific surface area in which micropores are expressed through chemical activation using an alkali-based metal hydroxide. According to the present invention, after a carbonization process of heat treatment in a nitrogen atmosphere using coffee grounds as a carbon precursor, and chemical activation using an alkali metal hydroxide such as potassium hydroxide (KOH), the hydrogen storage capacity is significantly improved than that of conventional activated carbon By presenting an activated carbon manufacturing method, a coffee grounds-based activated carbon manufacturing method for hydrogen storage that can be usefully used as a hydrogen storage material in various fields such as hydrogen vehicles and fuel cells is provided.
