A shovel (100) includes a lower traveling body (1), an upper turning body (3) turnably mounted on the lower traveling body (1), a cabin (10) provided on the upper turning body (3), a camera (80) serving as an orientation detector configured to detect a relative relationship between the orientation of the upper turning body (3) and the orientation of the lower traveling body (1), and an alarm device (49) configured to output an alarm when a backward travel operation is performed while it is detected that the orientation of the upper turning body (3) and the orientation of the lower traveling body (1) are in a predetermined relationship. The backward travel operation is an operation to cause the lower traveling body (1) to travel in the backward direction of the upper turning body (3).
