A method for evaluating a crack in a metal includes a first removal step (S10) and a second removal step (S20). In the first removal step (S10), a step for electrolysing a metal having an oxide scale formed on a surface thereof, a step for capturing an image of the oxide scale as a first image and a step for determining whether a crack has occurred in the scale or not, are repeated until the occurrence of a crack in the scale is determined. In the second removal step (S20), a step for electrolysis of the metal having the crack in the scale is taken,a second image acquisition step for capturing an image of the oxide scale as a second image and a second determination step for determining whether the crack in the scale has disappeared or not, repeated until disappearance of the oxide scale is determined.
