FIELD: medicine.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to radiation diagnostics, and can be used to predict the outcome of viral pneumonia in COVID-19. By computed tomography, images of the patient 's lungs are obtained on the 1st and 5th day of hospitalization. The total functioning volume of the lungs is determined in %, the total functioning volume of the lungs in ml, and the average density of the opaque glass compaction zones (HU). Coefficients of the ratio of indices on the 1st and 5th day of hospitalization are calculated: K1 = (total functioning volume of lungs (%) on the 1st day)/(total functioning volume of lungs (%) on the 5th day), K2 = (total functioning volume of lungs (ml) on the 1st day)/(total functioning volume of the lungs (ml) on the 5th day), K3 = (average density of the matte-type seal zones (HU) on the 1st day)/(average density of the matte-type seal zones (HU) on the 5th day).
