It utilizes drop volume measurements per nozzle and processing software to plan droplet combinations to reach specific cumulative ink fills per target area, while ensuring that the ink printing process meets the minimum and maximum ink fills set by the specification. In various embodiments, different droplet combinations are created through the use of different printhead/substrate scan offsets, offsets between printheads, different nozzle drive waveforms, and/or other techniques. Optionally, a pattern of charge variation may be introduced to mitigate observable line effects in the finished display device. The disclosed technique has many many possible applications.
