It utilizes the droplet volume measurement per nozzle and processing software to plan the droplet combinations to reach a specific cumulative ink charge per target area while ensuring that the ink printing process meets the minimum and maximum ink fill amounts set by the specification. In various embodiments, different droplet combinations are created through different print head/substrate scan offsets, offsets between print heads, the use of different nozzle drive waveforms, and/or other techniques. Optionally, a pattern of charge amount variation can be introduced to mitigate the observable line effect in the finished display device. The disclosed technique has many possible applications.
