Provided are a gimbal control method and apparatus, a gimbal assembly, a movable platform, and a storage medium. The gimbal is used for supporting an image acquisition device (200), and comprises: a base (100), and a roll motor (101) used for driving the image acquisition device to rotate around the roll axis of the gimbal. The control method comprises: detecting a current placement state of the base (S301); and controlling the rotation of the roll motor according to the current placement state, so that the image acquisition device acquires an image in correct orientation when the current placement state is a normal placement state or an inverted placement state (S302), wherein the placement state of the base comprises the normal placement state and the inverted placement state. According to the technical solution, regardless of the placement state of the gimbal, controlling the roll motor can effectively enable the image acquisition device to acquire an image in correct orientation, and in this case, the image does not need to be rotated; thus, data delay caused by data processing operations is reduced, the data processing quality and efficiency are ensured, and use requirements of users can be met.
