SERVER FAN CONTROL DEVICE AND METHOD BASED ON CONTROL CHIP

A server fan control device and method based on a control chip (1). The device comprises: a control chip (1), a driving chip (2), a fan (3), and a peripheral control circuit (4); the control chip (1) comprises a watchdog timer (11); an overflow control end of the watchdog timer (11) is connected to a reset end of the control chip (1) and used for resetting the control chip (1) when a program error or a crash occurs on the control chip (1), and the overflow control end is further connected to an input end of the peripheral control circuit (4) to control operation of the fan (3) by means of the peripheral control circuit (4) when the control chip (1) fails; a PWM signal output end of the control chip (1) is connected to an input end of the driving chip (2) and used for controlling the operation of the fan (3) by means of the driving chip (2) when the control chip (1) normally works. The device and the method solve the problem of occupying CPLD hardware interface resources in fan control due to the fact that a CPLD assists a BMC, thereby saving CPLD resources.
