Provided is an environment determination device (20) that determines that a surrounding environment is an adverse environment for a front camera on the basis of an effective recognition distance of a lane division line being less than a prescribed first distance. The environment determination device also determines the type of adverse environment on the basis of: recognition conditions of a lane division line and/or a landmark; and supplementary environment information such as the temperature. For example, if a lane division line at at least a prescribed second distance and less than the first distance has been recognized but a landmark has not been recognized, it is determined that the light of the afternoon sun is being received. Further, if a lane division line at at least the second distance and less than the first distance and a landmark have been both recognized, it is determined that the type of adverse environment is fog.
