COMPUTER-ASSISTED IMAGE-PROCESSING METHOD FOR READING A MARKING ON A SURFACE OF AN ANIMAL-SKIN SUPPORT

Computer-assisted image-processing method (100) for reading a marking on a surface of an animal-skin support, the method comprising the following steps: - acquiring (101), by means of a camera, an image of the surface of the support; - detecting (103) a marking region (ZM), said detection step comprising a first processing operation applied inside a window, said window being a part of the image and said marking region being a portion of the image included in said part of the image; - determining (105) an orientation of the marking region (ZM), said determination comprising a second processing operation; - detecting (106) the characters within the marking region (ZM), said detection comprising a third processing operation applied to a new image of the marking region (ZM), the new image being obtained from the portion of the image corresponding to the marking region (ZM) by means of a calculation performed on the basis of the orientation determined in the preceding step; - classifying (107, 108) each character detected in the new image of the marking region (ZM); - arranging (109) the characters detected and classified in the new image of the marking region (ZM) according to a direction of reading the characters that is defined on the basis of the orientation of the marking region.
