Motor tarpaulin made of foldable material for temporarily covering openings in superstructures of vehicles or buildings, the motor tarpaulin being connected to a winding drum via a cable or another windable connecting element, said winding drum being rotatable by a motor, energy flowing to the motor via safety electronics which by regulating or at least controlling the torque of the motor, regulates or controls the tensile force in the rope to the expected amount for maintaining the movement of the motor tarpaulin and an operator manually accesses the motor tarpaulin and/or sends a command to the safety electronics to temporarily increase the torque of the motor, so that an additional force is momentarily applied to the motor tarpaulin in the direction of the respective movement.
