System for the extraction and characterisation of carotenoid b-cryptoxanthin from a pigmented yeast Rhodotorula Taiwanensis, comprising:an input unit for the removal and collection of starter cultures, which isolates the yeast and cultivates the isolate in a liquid YPD medium;an incubator in which the cultivated yeast is planted for 48 hours at 30oC to obtain a mass transfer of biomass;a purification device for the purification of yeast and aliquots of purified cells stored after several subcultures in 15% (v/v) glycerin and YPD agar at -20%C;a microphotographic imaging device for conducting microphotographic images for observation of ultrastructural details and mass culture of Rhodotorula Taiwanensis isolate in a bio-reactor; andan extraction unit for the extraction of carotenoid b-cryptoxanthin from a pigmented Rhodotorula Taiwanensis yeast, which is then filtered with Whatman filter paper number one.
