A system and method for aggregating identical requests sent from multiple initiators to a target via network on chip (NoC) are disclosed. Requests are marked for aggregation. NoC uses a request aggregator (RA) as an aggregation point to aggregate identical requests marked for aggregation. At the aggregation point, identical requests are reduced to a single request. A single request is sent to the target. This process iterates in a cascade through the NoC, which may involve multiple request aggregators. When a response transaction is again received from the target at the aggregation point closest to the target, the response transaction is either replicated and sent directly to all original requesters, or sent through another request aggregator that further replicates an already replicated response transaction.
