Treatment methods and systems for acute ischemic stroke

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for transcarotid artery access of the cerebral arterial vascular system and treatment of cerebral occlusion. The system includes an arterial access sheath configured to introduce an intervention catheter into an artery and an elongated dilator that can be placed within the lumen of the sheath body. The system also includes a catheter formed from an elongated catheter body sized and shaped to be introduced into the common carotid artery through the lumen of the arterial access sheath via the carotid access site. The catheter has a full length and a distal length such that the most distal portion can be placed in the intracranial artery during use and at least a portion of the most recent portion is placed in the common carotid artery.
