This study is concerned with the retardation of onset of type 2 diabetes mellitus and the development of type 2 diabetes.The present invention provides a composition and method useful for retarding the onset of a new onset type 2 diabetes, progressive slowdown in type 2 diabetes, treatment of type 2 diabetes, and progressive progression of complications of type 2 diabetes.For example, the present invention relates to a method of retarding the occurrence of a novel onset type 2 diabetes mellitus, and more particularly to a method which includes administering an effective amount of CETP inhibitor to an object known to have genotype rs1967309 / AA or RS 1967309 / Ag.Diagram
