The present invention relates to a hydrolysis product of one or more aminoalkyl-functional alkoxysilanes or mixtures of aminoalkyl-functional alkoxysilanes and optionally a condensation product of a hydrolysis product with a vinylbenzyl halide derived from the reaction of N-vinylbenzylaminoalkyl- An aqueous, storage-stable, and preferably colorless composition comprising a functional siloxanol, said composition comprising at least 1% by weight N-vinylbenzylaminoalkyl-functional siloxanol and/or protonated N-vinylbenzyl a salt of an aminoalkyl-functional siloxanol and water, wherein the total composition totals 100% by weight and has a pH of 2 to 3.5. A process for the preparation of this composition is likewise disclosed.
