The composite material is a fluoroelastomer, 0.1 to 5.0 parts by weight of a vulcanizing agent based on 100 parts by weight of the fluoroelastomer, 5 to 50 parts by weight of a polyimide based on 100 parts by weight of the fluoroelastomer, and the fluoroelastomer 0 to 20 parts by weight of an additive composition based on 100 parts by weight of the elastomer, wherein the polyimide contains 5 to 1000 units of the formula: (One) wherein each V is the same or different, a substituted or unsubstituted tetravalent C 4-40 hydrocarbon group, and each R is the same or different, a substituted or unsubstituted C 2-20 divalent organic group am. Methods and articles for making the composite are also described.
