A lipid based nanoparticle composition, such as an exosome, is provided herein, and the lipid based nanoparticles comprise therapeutic substances that activate tumor suppressor.There is also provided a method of using such a composition to treat a patient having cancer that is at least partially caused by loss of tumor control.In particular, an exosome containing siRNA targeting the mutant p53 is provided with a method of using the exosome in the treatment of cancer.
