This surface-coated TiN-based cermet cutting tool uses a TiN-based cermet containing a TiN phase as a hard phase component as a base, and has a hard coating layer such as a titanium nitride layer and an aluminum oxide layer formed on the surface thereof. It is a cutting tool made of coated TiN-based cermet, and by adjusting the composition of the components of the TiN-based cermet, the linear expansion coefficient of the TiN-based cermet is set to 9.0 × 10-6 (/ K) or more, and the thermal conductivity is increased. It was set to 30 (W / m · K) or more, and the residual compressive stress of the hard coating layer was set to 600 to 2000 MPa, and particularly 600 to 2000 MPa even in the as-deposited state.
