Electronic Badges as Talking Markers

The process uses electronic badges to communicate environmental related status to industrial vehicles. The process includes identifying a status in a defined and defined environment and associating the identified status with a badge ID. The process also includes programming the electronic badge based on the identified condition and placing the electronic badge within a work area of the industrial vehicles. The process also includes receiving, by a processor of the industrial vehicle, information from the electronic badge comprising at least one of the associated badge ID and the identified status. The information is received via a badge communicator in communication with electronic badges within a predetermined range of the industrial vehicle via a first wireless communication link. The process also determines the status from information from the electronic badge and controls the industrial vehicle to take a predetermined action based on the determined status.
