The invention relates to an auditory prosthesis, in particular a cochlear implant, comprising an electrode arrangement (1) which consists of a multiplicity of stimulation electrodes (2) and is able to be implanted in the cochlea (27) of the human ear, wherein the auditory prosthesis (100) comprises a processing device (3, 6) which is configured such that, during operation, it captures an acoustic signal and converts the latter into electric stimulation pulses on different channels, each channel representing a different frequency range of the acoustic signal and being assigned to a separate stimulation electrode (2) to which the electric stimulation pulses of the assigned channel are applied. In the auditory prosthesis (100) according to the invention, the stimulation electrodes (2) are connected relative to a ground electrode (9) which is an implantable electrode and which is set up to be fastened to the outer side of the apex (28) of the cochlea (2) in the human ear.
