To provide a means for examining the onset or onset risk of a bone marrow tumor in a human, especially of the yellow race.SOLUTION: According to the present invention, a method for obtaining an index for examining the onset or onset risk of a bone marrow tumor in a human comprises detecting one or more germ cell mutations in the DDX41 gene which are mutations in one or more amino acids selected from those at positions 500, 259, 363, 364, 3, 7, 35, 187 and 256 of the amino acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:2 of a polypeptide encoded by the wild-type DDX41 gene.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
