The invention concerns a respiratory mask to protect against droplet infections, featuring a mask body, a visor, a filter element, a valve element and a seal element between the head and the mask body in an arrangement where a protected space is located in front of the face,to which the ambient air can flow only through the filter element and the breath air escapes via a valve element.A relatively light breathing is made possible by the fact that the filter element is essentially located above the head, which allows a very large filter surface to be represented and all flow cross-sections both in the filter connection area,can also be designed very large in the air duct to the interior of the mask as well as on the valve.A particularly safe sealing to the face with good wearing comfort is achieved with a sealing element consisting of soft, elastic filter material and has a large contact surface to the face.
